The Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1 is a unique institution that provides comprehensive educational services to area residents. A person can receive basic skills development leading to a High School Equivalency Diploma issued by the State of Wyoming , associate degrees provided by our partner Western Wyoming Community College (WWCC), work preparation skills, safety training for area industry, personal enrichment, bachelors and advanced degrees.
Over the past several years, Western Wyoming Community College Evanston Outreach course offerings and degree opportunities have risen dramatically. The Evanston Outreach program offers a range of academic transfer and vocational degrees to help the student achieve their educational goals. Several area Universities have written transfer agreements with WWCC to provide opportunities to complete a bachelor’s or master’s degree while living at 炫乐彩票登录. Dual credit and concurrent enrollment classes for high school students are available also. Delivery methods vary, including local instructors, and on-line instruction. In addition to WWCC opportunities, the Uinta B.O.C.E.S. #1 offers bachelors and masters degree opportunities for area residents through partnerships with the University of Wyoming and Western Governors University. Our College and Career Readiness Program is designed to assist individuals in increasing their skill levels in language arts writing, language arts reading, math, social studies and science. These services are offered at no charge to assist in preparation for a High School Equivalency, college entrance exams or math placement tests. Our program has been recognized as a top performer in the state. Tutoring services are provided upon request. All students are encouraged to continue on with post-secondary education or workforce training. English as a Second Language services are also offered through the Adult Basic Education program. Classes are interactive and focus largely on improving speaking and listening skills, although reading and writing exercises are included.
Through a partnership with the Wyoming Department of Workforce 炫乐彩票登录, the Education Center has developed a program to assist young people in obtaining skills that will help them be successful in the future as well as obtain their High School Equivalency. So far, this program has assisted over 100 individuals in getting their High School Equivalency with many of them continuing to pursue their future goals through our partner, Western Wyoming Community College. The current program has ten students, all of which are on track to complete the program, allowing them to have future opportunities for success.
The BOOST (B.O.C.E.S. Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency Training program is an employment training program for youth age 16 to 21 years of age. Trainees in the program study:
High School Equivalency Preparation and
Math, Reading & Writing skills.
Employment Training: including
- portfolio development
- finance and work habits
- interviewing skills
- resume and application skills.
Life skills Training: including
- issues of substance abuse
- communication skills
- risk taking behavior
- conflict resolution
- decision making
- stress reduction
- anger management.
Trainees receive funding from State of Wyoming Department of Workforce 炫乐彩票登录 or State of Wyoming Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. Trainees approved by the Department of Workforce 炫乐彩票登录 receive an hourly stipend to attend class. BOOST classes are held Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for approximately 12 weeks.
